Weber State cheer wins fifth-straight national title

Wildcats took first place in the Division I large coed and small coed competitions to add to their national title lineup.
Give them five!Â
The Weber State Wildcat Spirit Squad added to its incredible resume with another two trophies on Friday.Â
The Wildcat cheer team won its fifth-straight national championship in the Division I Large Coed Division at the 2022 NCA/NDA Collegiate Nationals in Daytona Beach, Florida. WSU totaled 98.55 to win the event, their fifth-straight and sixth overall national title. They won the event by nearly four points and totaled 99 in the preliminaries.Â
But the 'Cats weren't done yet. For the first time ever, Weber State also competed in the Division I Small Coed Division and Weber State came home with another national title in the event. WSU totaled 96.88 to claim the national title for the first time ever.Â
The Wildcats also claimed the top three spots in the partner stunt competition. The pair of Elsa and Matt took first place with a score of 98.72. Bailee and Jalani were second with Kat and Gauge finishing third.Â
The Wildcat cheer team is coached by Summer Willis.Â
In the dance competitions, Weber State placed third in the Division I Hip Hop performance with a total of 94.06 and the Wildcats were fifth in the Jazz Dance competition at 92.57.Â
The dance team is coached by Erica Jordan.Â
