Wildcats Finish in Seventh at UCSB Collegiate

SANTA BARBARA, Calif. – The Weber State men's golf team finished off the UCSB Intercollegiate on Tuesday at Sandpiper Golf Club with a seventh place finish with a two-round total of 599.
The Wildcats opened the tournament with a 293 on Monday morning, after which the day's afternoon round was cancelled due to high winds, shortening the tournament to 36 holes. On Tuesday, Weber State came back with a final round 306.
Cal State Northridge and Grand Canyon tied atop the team leaderboard with even-par totals of 576. CSUN shot back-to-back even-par rounds for the tournament, while GCU shot an opening round 294 before rallying back on Tuesday with a tournament-best 6-under par 282. Sacramento State finished three shots back in third place.
Reese Fisher and Hunter Howe each posted top-20 finishes to lead Weber State. Fisher shot rounds of 72 and 74 for a 2-over par 146 to tie for 11th, while Howe shot 75-72 to tie for 17th at 147.
Hayden Banz (73-80) shot 153 to tie for 52nd place, Isaac Buerger (77-80) shot 157 to tie for 66th, and Brody Childs (73-85) tied for 70th at 158.
Grand Canyon's Matteo Cristoni shot rounds of 74 and 65 to earn medalist honors with a 5-under par total of 139. Ethan Davidson of Sacramento State and Eirik Thomassen of CSUN tied for second at 140.
The tournament wraps up the 2022 regular season schedule for the Wildcats, who will turn their attention to the Big Sky Conference Championship tournament, which will be held April 25-26 at Talking Stick Golf Club in Chandler, Ariz.
