Wildcats Take Fifth, Song Second at Bobcat Desert Classic

GOODYEAR, Ariz. – The Weber State women's golf wrapped up the 2022 spring regular season on Tuesday with a fifth place finish in the Bobcat Desert Classic at the Golf Club of Estrella with a three-round total of 922. Aerin Song, playing as an individual for the Wildcats, finished as runner-up on the overall leaderboard with a 4-over par total of 220.
The Wildcats opened the tournament with rounds of 297 and 317 on Monday before closing with a 308 on Tuesday. The 'Cats finished 30 shots back of Santa Clara, which earned the team title with a total score of 892. Northern Arizona came in second, 10 shots off the pace of the Broncos.
Jessica Zelasko led the Wildcat scoring team, finishing tied for eighth place with a 10-over par 226 after rounds of 75, 78 and 73. Zelasko carded seven birdies for the tournament.
Isabel Gutierrez (71-86-74) tied for 21st place with a 15-over par total of 231. Morgan Bentley (76-77-81) finished 26th at 234, while Taitum Beck (75-80-80) tied for 27th at 235. Molly Holbert (78-82-85) rounded out the Wildcats' scoring team with a tie for 48th place at 245.
Song opened her tournament with two birdies and a 2-over par 74 on Monday morning, and followed up with four more birdies in a 73 in the afternoon. On Tuesday, she finished up with another four birdies and a second-straight 73.
The Wildcats will now prepare for the Big Sky Conference Championship tournament, which will be held on April 18-20 at Talking Stick Golf Club in Chandler, Ariz.
