Wildcats Hold On for Utah Fall Intercollegiate Title

EDEN, Utah – Weber State held its first round lead through a tougher scoring day on Monday to claim the team championship at the Utah Fall Intercollegiate, hosted by the Wildcats at Wolf Creek Resort Golf Course. The 'Cats shot a 10-over par 298 on the day and wrapped up the tournament with a 15-over par total of 591.
Utah Tech finished the tournament at 609, 18 shots back of Weber State in second place. Utah Valley took third at 612, while Southern Utah came in fourth at 637.
The Trailblazers' Jenna Anderson used a 3-under par final round of 69 to rally for individual medalist honors with a 1-under par total of 143.
Jade Gruher led the Wildcats, shooting a 2-under par total of 70 to jump into second place overall. For the tournament, she posted a 1-over par total of 145 and carded six birdies for the event, five of which came in the final round.
Emily Song, who held the 18-hole lead after a 68, shot 79 on Monday, but managed to hold on to third place, finishing with a 3-over par total of 147.
Cala Korman finished in a tie for fifth place with rounds of 72 and 77 for a 5-over par total of 149, while freshman Adley Nelson used an even-par final round to move into ninth place at 9-over par 153 to give the Wildcats four scoring players in the top-10.
Sofia Fuenmayor rounded out the WSU scoring team with a 14-over par total of 158 and finished in a tie for 16th place.
Braylyn Bayer led a foursome of Wildcat individuals with a great showing, posting back-to-back rounds of 75 to finish seventh overall, making it five Wildcats total in the top-10.
Brynn Bischoff shot rounds of 78 and 79 for a 13-over par 157 to tie for 14th place overall, while Rachel Lillywhite used a final round 77 to finish at 14-over par 158, joining Fuenmayor in the tie for 16th. Erika Kobayashi finished in 29th place with a total of 175.
