Our Wildcat track and field team was back in action this week at the Weber State and University of Utah Spring Classics, a joint meet that was held at Chick Hislop Track & Field at Stewart Stadium on Friday and was finished at the University of Utah on Saturday. Coach Talley said of the weekend results, "We're really excited this week about some new performances that could get into the NCAA Regionals, including Josh Trafny in the Javelin, Lachlan Burns in the Pole Vault, Christian Allen in the 1500, and Dallin Leatham in the 1500."

At home on Friday the Wildcats performed very well. Starting with the 110m hurdles where Cyrus Rindlisbacher and Caleb Whitney finished second and third in the event.

In the 3000-meter Steeplechase Wesley Kallgren earned a second-place finish with a time of 9:38.00 in his first time competing in the event. His time puts him number 16 in the Big Sky. Several other Wildcats finished high in the event with Carson Wilkins coming fourth, Nathanial Garner fifth with a PR of 9:47.08, and Carson Horspool in seventh with a PR of 10:02.72. The Wildcats have twelve athletes in the Big Sky's top 25 list for the 3000-meter Steeplechase!

As coach Talley mentioned, Christian Allen jumped into the NCAA West Division rankings with his time in the 1500 on Friday of 3:49.79 which ranks 25th in the Division and third in the Big Sky. Dallin Leatham also moved into the NCAA West Division list at number 29, and he ranks fourth in the Big Sky with his time of 3:50.32. Dallin finished just behind Christian at the meet to take the third-place finish.

The 4x100-meter relay team took first in a dramatic race with a time of 41.35, the team was made up of Isaac Tillett, Muamer Mujic, Alex Wheeler, and Cyrus Rindlisbacher.

In field events Caleb Whitney had a solid performance in the long jump with his first-place finishing PR leap of 23' 4" which currently sits at number five on the Big Sky list.

In the Hammer throw Jake Weathers threw 167' 7" to take first with Ryan Johnson throwing 123' 0.5" as a first mark in competition for him.

In the Discus Gaige Vielhauer finished second with his PR throw of 145' 4". Weathers followed his Hammer performance with PR in the Discus at 140' 4" and a third-place finish.

As things moved to the University of Utah on Saturday, the Wildcats kept momentum and performed at a high level. In the 800-meters Hanokh Gailson ran 1:54.99 which was just shy of his PR time set the week prior to take third at the meet. Bryce Anderson followed close behind at 1:55.03 to finish fourth.

In the 5000-meters Taylor Knight took first place with a time of 15:17.71, Curst Crossley finished in third at 15:25.73, and Nathaniel Garner added another PR for the weekend with a time of 15:32.12 in his fourth-place finish.

Cyrus Rindlisbacher ran 55.00 in the 400-meter hurdles to earn second place.

The 4x400-meter relay team of Jed Smith, Hanokh Gailson, Bryce Anderson, and Caleb Whitney took first place in the meet with a time of 3:24.65.

In the field events Lachlan Burns finished first in the Pole Vault clearing a height of 16' 9.5" which puts him at number 26 for the NCAA West Division, and second in the Big Sky Conference. Jed Smith ended in a tie for second with his mark of 15' 3", and Parker Sagers finished fourth with a height of 14' 9".

Gaige Vielhauer continued his PR streak from the day before with his throw in the shot put of 50' 2.75" for his first time passing the fifty-foot mark. His throw gave him a first-place finish for the meet.

Lastly, the javelin saw a new top-10 school mark from Josh Trafny with his PR throw of 212' 2". His mark was good enough for first in the meet and put him number 17 in the NCAA West Division and number three in the Big Sky. Cody Canard finished second for the meet with a throw of 204' 10", and Carson Smith finished third with a PR throw of 161' 7".

Coach Talley said of the weekend, "we are really proud of the way our athletes competed and stepped up to help at our home meet."

Weber State was proud to honor our seniors during our home portion of the meet on Friday night. It was the largest Senior class that the program has ever had, and it was full of top-tier athletes both on and off the track or field. Coach Talley added, "it was very fun to honor our seniors who have worked so hard and given so much to the team over their time here. Those Seniors are:

Christian Allen
Lachlan Burns
Taylor Dillon
Dallin Leatham
Muamer Mujic
Krey Ramsey
