2022 Big Sky Outdoor Championships Recap

The 2022 Big Sky Conference Championships are complete, and it was a great day week for Weber State Athletes with several Personal Records, All-Big Sky Conference athletes, and Big Sky Conference Champions.

Day 1
Â
In the 10,000-meter run Rylie Lusk wins the Big Sky Championship with a time of 35:31.85. She fought hard all the way to the end to edge out the rest of the field in a gutsy performance. Maura Williams picked up some additional points for the team by finishing eighth at 38:09.10.

Bailey Winter placed sixth in the 3000m Steeplechase with a time of 10:41.73 start the point scoring for the Women's team.

In field events, Kapua Pulotu earned Big Sky All-Conference honors for her third-place finish in the Discus with a throw of 153' 0".Â
Â
Cidnee Davies-Bohn finished sixth in the Long Jump with a jump of 18' 11.75". Emilly Barnes-Sterzer finished eighth in the High Jump with a jump of 5' 3.75" to each earn some points for the overall team score.
Â
Marissa Brunner-Schmidt finished eighth in the Hammer Throw with a new PR mark of 170' 10".

Day 2
Â
Cheyenne Leatham earned top-eight finishes in both the 800, and 1500-meters. She finished the 800 with a time of 2:12.16 and the 1500 at 4:31.47.

Cidnee Davies-Bohn and Emily Barnes-Sterzer each earned points for the team in the 100-meter hurdles with Cidnee finishing fourth with a PR at 13.74 and Emily eighth also with a PR at 14.19.

Emily followed up with a second-place finish in the 400-meter hurdles where she led through the last hurdle before being edged out by 0.007 seconds. She left it all out on the track with a diving finish at the end. She showed a lot of determination despite an injury.

In the 400m dash, freshman Angleyca Chapman finished with a PR time of 57.57 for a seventh-place finish.
Â
Jasmine Devers ran the 200m dash in 24.28 to earn PR and a sixth-place finish.
In the 5,000-meters Bailey Winter finished 4th to score some major points for the team.

Lauren Olsen was able to earn points in the Javelin with her sixth-place finish with a throw of 147' 0".
Â
The 4x400m Relay team consisting of Jasmine Devers, Angelyca Chapman, Alisha Ellsworth, and Emily Barnes-Sterzer finished fourth with a time of 3:48.03.

Though she didn't earn points in her event, Stefanie Aeschlimann PRd in the Javelin at 130' 0".

It was a great performance all around by all the athletes who competed at the Big Sky Conference Championships. The combined efforts earned a fourth-place finish in the team standings with 67 points. There are some athletes that have qualified for the West Preliminary rounds in Fayetteville, Arkansas in two weeks with events beginning on May 26, and concluding on May 28.
