STOCKTON, Calif. – The Weber State men's golf team shot a second-straight 298 on Wednesday to wrap up the NCAA Stockton Regional in 14th place in the program's first appearance in a regional in 20 years.
The Wildcats opened the tournament with a 293 and added the pair of 298's for a tournament total of 889.
Arizona State lived up to its top-seeded status, winning the regional after shooting a 38-under par total of 826 for a 10-shot margin over second place Stanford. BYU finished third at 837, while Oregon (843) and Liberty (846) grabbed the final two spots in the top five, earning berths in the NCAA Championships at Grey Hawk Golf Club in Scottsdale, Ariz.
Isaac Buerger carded four birdies on Wednesday en route to a final round 1-under par 71 and finished as Weber State's top finisher in the regional with a tie for 54th place. Buerger opened the tournament with rounds of 74 and 75 and finished with a 54-hole total of 4-over par 220.
Reese Fisher shot rounds of 73, 71 and 77 to finish in a tie for 58th place at 5-over par 221. Hunter Howe shot 71-77-76 for a tie for 63rd at 224, while Brody Childs shot three-consecutive 75's to tie for 65th at 225. Hayden Banz (75-78-76) rounded out the Wildcats with a 71st place finish at 229.
Carson Lundell of BYU took home individual medalist honors after shooting rounds of 69, 68 and 68 for an 11-under par total of 205. He finished one shot ahead of Arizona State's Mason Anderson and Stanford's Barclay Brown, who tied for second at 206.
The tournament wraps up the 2021-22 season for the Big Sky Conference champions.
