Women's Cross Country finishes 3rd at Big Sky Conference Championship

Hailey Low named Big Sky Freshman of the Year


Weber State women's cross country finished third as a team with a score of 107 points at the Big Sky Conference Championships in Missoula, Montana on October 27. 

"We had a good race, we were sitting in fourth until the last mile until we were able to move up," head coach Paul Pilkington said. "I was really, really pleased with how we raced."

The Northern Arizona Lumberjacks are nationally ranked at No. 1 and swept the race with 15 points and Montana State finished second with 57 points. 

Weber State finished in front of the University of Idaho, Eastern Washington, Sacramento State, Northern Colorado, Montana, Idaho State and Portland State.

Laurie Murphy led the 'Cats with a 13th place finish and time of 17:35.20, Hailey Low was the next Wildcat to cross the finish line in 17th with a time of 18:02.10, Saga Hagelin finished 21st at 18:09.40, Bailey Winter finished 29th with a time of 18:26.50 and Frances Hudson finished 34th at 18:41.70 as the first five Wildcats to complete the race.

Jessica Hill finished 39th at 18:49.20, Trisha Thomas finished 42nd with a time of 18:51.20 and Lydia Felix finished 43 at 18:53.50. 

Following Low's performance, she was named the Big Sky Freshman of the Year. 

The Wildcats are set to travel to Lubbock, TX to compete in the NCAA Mountain Regionals on November 10.
