Women's Tennis Drops Tight Match To No. 71 NAU

Flagstaff, AZ - Weber State women's tennis played in its first Big Sky Conference match of the season against NAU on Saturday in Arizona for its second match of the weekend where the 'Cats dropped an extremely competitive 4-3 contest.
WSU fell in doubles play to fall behind 1-0 after the only duo to collect a win was Ana Morett and Megan Davies on court one.Â
Singles play followed doubles as a competitive fight. NAU furthered their lead winning on courts six and four. On court two, Megan Davies started the wins for the 'Cats when she took the upper hand 6-0, 7-6 against Ana Guadiana.Â
Weber State continued to fight securing wins on courts five and one. Cindy Ping An earned the victory against Daryna Shoshyna 6-1, 7-6. In a vital match for the 'Cats, Ana Morett battled through three sets against Sofia Markova. Morett pulled through to win her match and have the match fall into the hands of the players on court three.Â
Tied 3-3, Megan Lombardi and NAU's Pat Niewiadomska battled it out on court three. Niewiadomska won the first 6-4, but couldn't sustain the momentum as Lombardi took the second 6-3. In the third and final set, Lombardi fell short 6-7 for the match-winning point.Â
