Men's Tennis Falls 4-2 In Big Sky Quarterfinals

The 'Cats end the season with a record of 12-9 overall, 5-2 in the Big Sky.
Phoenix, AZ - The Weber State men's tennis team saw its season come to an end with a 4-2 loss to the No. 5 seed Idaho State in the quarterfinals of the Big Sky Tournament.
Weber State finished with a 12-9 overall record, which are five more wins than last year. The 'Cats drew the No. 4 seed at the six-team tournament after finishing with a 5-2 Big Sky Conference record. The last time that the men's tennis team advanced to the quarterfinals of the Big Sky Tournament was in 2018 when they defeated Portland State 4-1 and lost to Idaho in the semifinals 4-0.
Today's match started with the Bengals winning the doubles point. Connor Kruger and William Zulch were the sole Wildcat duo to earn a doubles victory, 6-4 against Patrick Kristensen and Wikus Robbertse.
In singles play, the Wildcats battled earning their first point on the day on court one where Sebastian Buxman defeated Kristensen 7-5, 6-2. The Bengals then won the following two matches on courts three and four giving them the 3-1 lead.
William Zulch downed Robbertse 6-1, 6-4 on court five decreasing the Bengals lead by one. However, clinching the match for Idaho State, on court six Hiroki Fujita won against Jordan Coutinho in a three-set match 4-6, 6-2, 6-1 and awarded the Bengals a spot in the semifinals of the Big Sky Tournament.
