Bronson Winter qualifies for NCAA Championships

Winter will compete in the steeplechase at the NCAA meet June 7 in Austin, Texas.
Weber State junior Bronson Winter is heading to the NCAA Championships. Winter qualified for the NCAA's for the first time in his career and he will compete in the steeplechase at the NCAA meet June 7 in Austin, Texas.Â
Winter posted a career best time of 8:38.92 in the 3,000 meter steeplechase at the NCAA West Preliminary Round in Sacramento. The time beat is personal best by six seconds and ranks as the eighth-fastest in Weber State history. He finished 13th in the meet and was third in his heat which qualified him for the NCAA meet.Â
The semifinals for the steeplechase will be on June 7 at 6:02 p.m. Mountain time in Austin, Texas. The action will be televised on ESPNU.Â
The Wildcats had six athletes compete at the NCAA first round meet in Sacramento. Also in the steeplechase, Jamison Wilkes finished 16th overall, just missing qualifying. He posted a time of 8:40.41.Â
Caleb Whitney posted a time of 14.25 in the 110-meter hurdles to finish 41st overall.Â

In the field events, two Wildcats competed in the javelin. Cody Canard finished 24th with a mark of 212-5 and Josh Trafny was 27th at 207-5.Â
Xakai Harry was 24th in the long jump with a mark of 24-04.50.Â
