Wildcats Maintain Fourth Place in Timpanogos Round Two

PROVO, Utah – Weber State's women's golf team shot an even-par 288 in the second round of the Timpanogos Collegiate on Tuesday to hold their fourth place position in the standings through 36 holes at Timpanogos Golf Club.
The Wildcats got another strong round out of Isabel Gutierrez with a 3-under par 69 on the day to move her to 5-under par through two rounds and in a tie for sixth place overall. Gutierrez carded a pair of birdies on the front nine and added a trio more on the back, offsetting a pair of bogeys.
Sofia Fuenmayor and Cala Korman each shot a 1-over par 73 in round two and join Gutierrez in the top-30. Fuenmayor moved to 1-under par through two rounds and is tied for 17th place, while Korman sits at even par and in a tie for 26th place with 18 holes remaining tomorrow.
Jessica Zelasko also shot 1-over 73 on the day and jumped into a tie for 40th place at 3-over par, while Emily Song dropped to 57th place after a second round 77. Individual Samira Salinas joined Song in 57th place with an even-par 72 on the day.
Grand Canyon stormed to the 36-hole team lead with an 18-under par 270 on the day to sit at 17-under par for the tournament. First round leader Fresno State is two shots back of GCU heading into the final round.
