Wildcats beat Jackrabbits on game winner from Dillon Jones

Jones scored 23 points and made the game winner with less than a second to play.
OGDEN - Do it All Dillon Jones added a game winner to his outstanding season as Jones hit a jumper with less than a second remaining to give Weber State a a 75-73 win over South Dakota State Wednesday night at the Dee Events Center.Â
The game was the first game of the Big Sky-Summit League Challenge.Â
Weber State is now 10-4 overall and has won five-straight games.Â
Jones finished with 23 points, tied his career-high with nine assists, and had six rebounds. He was 9 of 12 from the field, including 4 of 5 from 3-point range.Â
The Jackrabbits led the game early on before a 12-0 WSU run gave Weber State a 35-28 lead. The 'Cats led 40-35 at halftime.Â
In the second half Weber State went on an 11-2 run and led 71-58 with 5:52 remaining. South Dakota State responded with a 15-2 run and tied the game with 29 seconds left before the game winner by Jones.Â
"We are really excited about that win against a very good South Dakota State team," said WSU head coach Eric Duft. "I'm proud of our team to find a way and showed the patience down the stretch. It's a tremendous win for Weber State Basketball."Â
The Wildcats shot 47 percent from the field, compared to 51 percent for the Jackrabbits. Weber State knocked down 13 3-pointers, the most against a Division I opponent this season.Â
Blaise Threatt added 17 points and was 4 of 4 from 3-point range. He also had five rebounds and two steals. Dyson Koehler had 15 points with six rebounds and knocked down three 3-pointers.Â
Alex Tew added seven points and three blocked shots, and pulled down a career-high 10 rebounds.Â
The Wildcats now hit the road for their next three games. WSU will play the second game of the Big Sky-Summit League Challenge on Saturday night at Oral Roberts in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
The game will tipoff at 6 p.m. Mountain time and will be televised on CBS Sports Network.Â
