Wildcats Drop Home Opener 4-3

Ogden, UT — The Weber State men's tennis team lost their home opening match this afternoon to the University of Nebraska at Omaha 4-3
"It felt like we had a close one. They played a good match." head coach Brad Ferreira said.
The Wildcats lost the doubles point to the Mavericks with Matteo Savio and Tuan (Ken) Minh providing the only doubles win on the day for the 'Cats as they took down their opponents 6-2.
In singles play the Wildcats put up a fight but ultimately feel short of the mark. Jordan Coutinho, fresh off winning the Big Sky Men's Tennis Player of the Week, took his match in three sets 6-4, 5-7, 6-2 to win his seventh consecutive singles match to open the season. The other two points earned on the day for the Wildcats came courtesy of Tristan Sarap and Tuan (Ken) Minh who won both their matches in three sets. Sarap by a score of 4-6, 6-2, 7-6 (7-4), and Minh via a result of 6-2, 4-6, 6-0.
The loss ended the 'Cats four game winning streak going back to the weekend win at the UNLV tournament. The team will look to bounce back as they hit the road again. This time to Colorado to take on the Air Force Academy on Saturday night.
