SIOUX FALLS, SD – Weber State's Matthew Wilson was named the Summit League Peak Golfer of the Week on Thursday as the conference office released its weekly awards.
Wilson helped lead the Wildcats to the team championship this week in the Bill Cullum Invitational, hosted by Cal State Northridge at the Saticoy Club in Somis, Calif.
On Monday, the freshman from Nainamo, British Columbia posted back-to-back rounds of even-par 72. He carded 11 birdies on the opening day of play, including six in his first round on Monday morning. On Tuesday, Wilson closed the tournament with four birdies against a lone bogey for a 3-under par 69 to finish the tournament alone in third place at 3-under par 213.
The award is the first career weekly honor for Wilson and the first for Weber State men's golf after the program moved to the Summit League as an affiliate member this past summer.
