Wildcats roll in season opener

Weber State beat Northwest Indian College 118-35 in the season opener.
OGDEN - Weber State never trailed and cruised to a 118-35 win over Northwest Indian College in the 2024-25 season opener Monday night at the Dee Events Center.Â
The 83-point win is the largest margin of victory in school history.Â
Weber State shot 59 percent from the field and made 19 3-pointers, tied for the second-most in a game in WSU history. The 'Cats also had 28 assists with just seven turnovers, outrebounded the Eagles 59-38, and had nine steals and seven blocked shots.Â
The 'Cats led 62-15 at halftime and had a 27-0 run midway through the first half. The lead was never less than 44 the rest of the game.Â
All 13 Wildcats that played scored at least two points with four players in double figures.Â
Senior Dyson Koehler led the way with 22 points on 7 of 9 shooting, including 6 of 7 from 3-point range. He also added eight rebounds.Â
Viljami Vartiainen added 17 points and was 5 of 7 from 3-point range. Blaise Threatt had 14 points in 14 minutes of action and was 7 of 8 from the field. He also dished out seven assists.Â
New Wildcat transfer Miguel Tomley added 12 points and was 4 of 7 from 3-point range. Freshman Declan Cutler had eight points and a game-high 10 rebounds in his first game as a Wildcat.Â
Weber State will play the next three games on the road beginning Friday night at Oregon State. Tipoff is at 8 p.m. Mountain time and will be streamed on ESPN+.Â
