CORVALLIS, Ore. - Weber State hit the road for the first time in the 2024-25 season and dropped its first game, as the 'Cats fell 76-48 to Oregon State Friday night.

The Beavers held the Wildcats to 33 percent shooting from the field and forced 15 WSU turnovers.

Oregon State never trailed, leading by as many as 12 in the first half and holding a 31-22 lead at halftime. Weber State shot 26 percent from the field in the first half.

Miguel Tomley made two quick 3-pointers to start the second half and the 'Cats cut the lead to six points, but OSU responded with a 21-5 run and led by 22 points with 10:53 to play.

Weber State was never closer than 18 the rest of the way. Later in the half, the Beavers went on a 17-2 run and took their largest lead of 33 points with 3:10 to play.

"Tough night for us and hats off to Oregon State," said WSU head coach Eric Duft. "They played very well. Coach Tinkle told me before the game that he really likes his team and I can see why. They have a lot of length and athleticism and shot it really well tonight. We obviously didn't play well but we have a good group of guys. It's early in the season and we will learn from it and get better.  These games will help us down the road and let us know what it is we have to get better at."

The Beavers shot 47 percent from the field, made nine 3-pointers, and were a perfect 11 of 11 from the free throw line. Weber State knocked down seven 3-pointers. Oregon State outrebounded the 'Cats 37-28 and dished out 19 assists.

Blaise Threatt led the Wildcats with 14 points on 7 of 13 shooting. He also led the team with six rebound and four assists.

Threatt was the only Wildcat in double figures. Nigel Burris had seven points with five rebounds. Viljami Vartiainen and Miguel Tomley each added six points with two 3-pointers each.

Friday's game was the first of three straight road games for the Wildcats. Weber State will play at Nevada on Wednesday, November 13 in Reno, then play at Hawaii on November 17.
