12/14/2024 4:07:00 PM | Women's Basketball

SEATTLE - The Weber State women's basketball team secured a 72-64 road win this Saturday afternoon.

First Half | The Wildcats started the game strong, pulling ahead of the Redhawks 11-5 and ending the quarter with a three-point lead 16-13. Antoniette Emma-Nnopu led the 'Cats throughout the quarter with six points.

A battle quickly unfolded early in the second quarter as the Redhawks took the advantage 19-16. A Rose Bubakar layup and free throw tied the score at 19-19. The two squads exchanged points back and forth but two Wildcat three-pointers made by Kennedy Eskelson and Taylor Smith created some separation by four-points. A Seattle 9-0 run gave the Redhawks a boost but the Wildcats stayed tough and two more 3-pointers made by Kendra Parra and Smith ended the half 33-32 in Weber State's favor. The Wildcats shot 6-11 from the arc during the first half for a 54.5 percentage.

Second Half | The Wildcats pulled ahead 42-35 after a 7-0 run to start the third quarter. However, the Redhawks worked their way back from the deficit to trail the Wildcats by one at 49-48. Continuing with that momentum, the Redhawks ended the quarter 53-51.

Weber State started the fourth quarter with 14 straight points to build a 12-point lead. With under five minutes of game play left, the Wildcats did not allow Seattle another run and good free throw shooting helped seal the game 72-64.
