Weber State drops final preseason road game at Arizona

TUCSON, Ariz. - The Weber State women's basketball team dropped a 66-87 decision to the Arizona Wildcats.
First Half | In a closely contested first quarter, Weber State held with Arizona trailing by four with just over five minutes to go. However, Arizona strung together a 4-0 and then 7-0 run before ending the quarter 21-13. Weber State ended the quarter with ten turnovers compared to Arizona's two.
The second quarter began with seven straight points by Arizona until a driving layup by Kendra Parra snapped that run. Arizona continued to create separation between the two and went into the half with a 45-33 lead. Weber State was 7-8 in free throw shooting to end the second quarter and led by Taylor Smith and Parra both with eight points.
Second Half | Weber State fought to stay in the game, pulling together a five-point run courtesy of a Kennedy Eskelson three-pointer and pair of Rose Bubakar free throws. Soon after, Arizona threw together eight straight points. Weber State continued to work together and finished the quarter 50-68.
Weber State totaled 16 points in the fourth quarter relying on free throws to chip away at the deficit. Weber State trailed by 14 until a seven-point run sealed the game for Arizona 87-66.
Wildcat Stats
Weber State will return to the Dee Events Center on December 20 for an in-state matchup against Utah Valley and Wildcats last preseason game before facing Big Sky opponent Northern Colorado on January 2.
