Men’s Tennis Head Coach Brad Ferreira Honored With Lifetime Achievement Award

Ogden, UT – Weber State Men's Tennis head coach Brad Ferreira was awarded with the USPTA Intermountain George Bacso Lifetime Achievement Award.
The award, presented by the United States Professional Tennis Association, honors a member, who over their career, has demonstrated exemplary achievement in seven different areas, including: contributions to the USPTA and USTA; as a teaching professional, player, and coach; in education, research, and publications; and with other organizations, achievements, and contributions in the community. In order to be eligible for the award, a 30 year membership with the USPTA is required.
Ferreira is a former Weber State standout tennis player who took over the program in 2012. His playing career for the Wildcats spanned from 1986-90. He played in the #2 singles slot and #1 doubles position in his career for the 'Cats and helped lead the team to 4 straight Big Sky Conference Championships. Ferreira also made an NCAA appearance in doubles in 1988 and 1989 with partner Lindsay Rawstorne and finished 1989 ranked #11 in doubles in the country.
Since taking over the Wildcat program in 2012, Ferreira has guided the team to an overall record of 120-134 and 68-35 in conference play. He has led them to three Big Sky regular season titles in 2014, 2015, and 2016 as well as one trip to the NCAA Championships in 2016.
In 2018, he received another honor from the USPTA as he was named the Intermountain Professional of the Year. This is his 31st year as a member of the USPTA.
The tennis team has begun this season with a record of 4-5 and are preparing for a road trip to the California Coast where they will take on Jessup, Sacramento State, San Francisco, and Pacific over the course of five days before coming back to take on Utah State at home on March 15th.
