OGDEN - Because of Leap Day Thursday was not March, but the madness started a day early for Weber State.

The Wildcats made two big comebacks to knock off Northern Colorado 85-81 in overtime Thursday night at the Dee Events Center, behind an historic performance for Dillon Jones.

Jones played all 45 minutes in the game and tied his career-high with 30 points, grabbed a career-high 23 rebounds, and tied his career-high with nine assists in an historic performance to lead the Wildcats to the win. He was also 11 of 11 from the free throw line.

With the win, Weber State moved into a tie for second place in the Big Sky standings with two games remaining.

Eastern Washington clinched the regular season title and is now at 13-3.

Montana, Northern Colorado, and Weber State are all tied for second place at 10-6. The Wildcats would win the tiebreaker by virtue of a 3-1 record against Montana and Northern Colorado.

Thursday's game had 19 lead changes, 13 ties, and each team led with the lead for exactly 19:14.

Northern Colorado led 36-33 at halftime.

Weber State rallied and led by four points with 4:37 to play before a 10-0 run by Northern Colorado gave the Bears a six point lead with 52 seconds remaining.

Blaise Threatt cut the lead to four points with 21 seconds left, Dyson Koehler then stole the ball and made a layup to cut the lead to two with 15 seconds left.

After the Bears missed a free throw, Jones rebounded the ball and went coast to coast for a layup that tied the game with seven seconds left. The Bears committed an offensive foul and the game went to overtime.

Northern Colorado started the extra period on an 8-2 run and took a 79-73 lead with 2:52 to play. Weber State responded with a 9-0 run and took an 82-79 lead with 30 seconds remaining. Blaise Threatt made three free throws in the final 18 seconds to seal the wild win.

"This was a great college basketball game tonight and it felt like we didn't make a shot but we just kept finding a way to pull it out and that's what you have to do, especially this time of year," said WSU head coach Eric Duft. "Our guys really worked so hard and never gave up tonight. Dillon was incredible and a phenomenal performance."

Northern Colorado shot 55 percent from the field and was 8 of 19 from 3-point range. Weber State shot 42 percent and was just 7 of 30 from 3-point range. The Wildcats won the rebounding battle 38-30.

Three other Wildcats scored in double figures. Steven Verplancken had 16 points, Blaise Threatt added 15 and Dyson Koehler had 14.

The final home of the season will be Saturday at 2 p.m. against Northern Arizona. It will be Senior Day as Weber State will honor Dillon Jones, Steven Verplancken, and KJ Cunningham prior to the game.

WSU will conclude the regular season at Montana State on Monday night in a game televised on ESPNU.

The Big Sky Tournament will be March 9-13 in Boise, Idaho.
