'Cats roll to win over NAU on Senior Day

Dillon Jones led the way with 21 points, 14 rebounds, and seven assists.
OGDEN - Weber State celebrated Senior Day prior to Saturday's game and the seniors then went out and led the Wildcats to an 85-58 win over Northern Arizona. Â
WSU honored Dillon Jones, Steven Verplancken, and KJ Cunningham prior to the game on Saturday and Weber State then put on a dominating performance.Â
The Wildcats never trailed and shot 51 percent from the field with eight 3-pointers. WSU held NAU to 31 percent shooting and 4 of 14 from 3-point range.Â
With the win, Weber State won its 20th game of the season and improved to 11-6 in Big Sky play. The Wildcats are still tied for second in the Big Sky standings.Â
If WSU wins at Montana State on Monday night, the Wildcats will be the No. 2 seed in the Big Sky Tournament.Â
Jones had 21 points and 14 rebounds for his 18th double-double of the season. He also added seven assists. He continues to lead the Big Sky in points, rebounds, and assists, the only player in the country leading a conference in all three categories.Â
Verplancken added 19 points with two 3-pointers and Cunningham had eight points and also made two 3-pointers.Â
Vilijami Vartianien added 11 points with three 3-pointers.Â
WSU led 40-34 at halftime and had a 12-0 run in the second half to lead 58-42. There was a 29-7 run over an 11 minute stretch that gave the 'Cats a 75-48 lead. Weber State led by as many as 31 late in the game.Â
The 'Cats will close out the regular season on Monday night at Montana State. That game will be televised nationally on ESPNU and streamed on ESPN+.Â
The Big Sky Tournament will be March 9-13 in Boise, Idaho.
