Wildcats defeat Bengals, advance to Big Sky Championship

Phoenix, AZ - The Weber State women's tennis team secured a 4-3 victory against Idaho State this Friday morning in the semi-final match of the Big Sky Tournament.
Weber State captured the first point as its No. 1 duo of Ana Morett and Megan Davies downed the Idaho State duo 6-1. To tie it up, the Bengals secured the win 6-3 on court two. The deciding doubles came down to court three where Kenadee Semenik and Jessica Hill battled in a tiebreaker 7-6 (7-3) to give the Wildcats the 1-0 advantage headed into singles.
To advance the 'Cats lead 2-0, Ana Morett defeated Lola O'Lideadha 6-2, 6-0 on court two. The match was tied 2-2 after Idaho State's Asem Shoybek won 6-4, 6-2 on court five up against Sicely Ferreira.
All three remaining singles were pushed to a third set. Finishing at No. 6 Li Yang Ping An (Cindy) dropped her match 3-6, 6-4, 3-6 but to bring the score to a tie (3-3), Megan Davies defeated her opponent 4-6, 6-0, 6-3.
To clinch the match, freshman Sydney Schnell defeated Stefanya Shalakhova 5-7, 6-3, 6-0 and the Wildcats walked away with the 4-3 victory over the No. 1 seeded Idaho State Bengals.
Weber State will advance to the championship match to be played April 27 against the No. 3 seeded Sacramento State.
