GAME NOTES: Wildcats open Big Sky play against Bears at home

Weber State women's basketball is set to face the Northern Colorado Bears in their first Big Sky matchup of the 2024-25 season.
This will be the 45th all-time meeting between the Wildcats and the Bears. Northern Colorado leads the series 30-14. In the last game between the two, Northern Colorado won 72-64 in Greeley.
Northern Colorado is 7-4 overall after 43-60 loss to Lamar on December 21. Aniah Hall leads the Bears with 11.6 points per game while Tatum West is scoring 11.5 points. Ella Van Weelden takes the lead in three-pointers with 2.0 per game and West in rebounding totaling 84 with 7.6 per game. Northern Colorado was picked fifth in the Big Sky Preseason Coaches' Poll.
Weber State is under the direction of second year head coach Jenteal Jackson who was named the seventh head coach in WSU history. A Utah native and former in-state college player, she came to Weber State after spending the two seasons as head coach at Westminster College in Salt Lake City. Prior to becoming head coach, she spent nine seasons as an assistant coach at Westminster. She played college basketball at BYU and Westminster.
Wildcats Kendra Parra, Kennedy Eskelson, Margarita Satini, Taylor Smith, and Amanda Edwards all return to the Weber State team this season. Weber State picked up transfers Rose Bubakar from BYU, Antoniette Emma-Nnopu from UNC Greensboro, Lanae Billy from Fort Lewis College, and Japrix Stubbs from USU Eastern. The team also welcomed five newcomers, Maya Davis, Fui Niumeitolu, Mata Peaua, Dakota Nap, and Vanna Quintana.
Following Thursday's game, the Wildcats face Northern Arizona and Idaho State at home.
