Gavin Ortega earns Academic All-District honors

Weber State all-conference offensive lineman Gavin Ortega has earned academic honors. Ortega was named to the College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District team for the 2024 season and is a candidate for Academic All-America honors.

Ortega, a junior out of Bellingham, Washington, is majoring in Exercise and Sport at Weber State.

To qualify for All-District honors, a student-athlete must have completed at least one full year at their current institution, be a starter or important reserve, and have at least a 3.50 cumulative GPA. All-District selections are now eligible for Academic All-America honors, which will be announced on January 28.

Ortega earned second-team All-Big Sky Conference honors during the 2024 season for the Wildcats. He started all 12 games at the left guard position and helped block for all-conference performer Damon Bankston and the Wildcat rushing attack that finished third in the Big Sky in team rushing.

He has played in 29 games in his Wildcat career.
