Wildcats Picked 10th, Wilson Added to Watch List in Summit League Preseason Polls

SIOUX FALLS, SD – Summit League officials released their Men's Golf Preseason Poll and Golfers to Watch list on Thursday and the Weber State men's golf team has been picked 10th, while Matthew Wilson was named to the watch list for the 2025 spring season.
The Wildcats, in their first season competing in the Summit League, received 24 points in the poll. North Dakota State topped the 11-team list, receiving 97 points and eight first place votes. The Bison edged Oral Roberts, which finished second in the poll with 89 points and two first place votes.
The Bison are seeking their third team title and first since 2018, while the Golden Eagles will be looking to claim their eighth overall championship and first since 2010.
South Dakota State earned the remaining first-place vote as the Jackrabbits finished third with 81 points. Reigning Tournament Champion Kansas City was tabbed fourth with 75 points. The Roos won the team title a season ago, which was their fourth overall and second since rejoining the conference prior to the 2019-20 campaign.
St. Thomas took fifth with 67 points, while Denver was sixth with 53 points. The Coyotes, who are under the direction of first-year head coach Chad Green, claimed seventh with 41 points. Northern Colorado, a new affiliate member for the sport, followed in eighth with 36 points.
Omaha was pegged to finish ninth with 28 points, while Weber State, the second new affiliate for this year, trailed the Mavericks in 10th with 24 points. North Dakota rounded out the poll with 14 points.
Junior Ty Anderson led the team into the 2024 fall season as the lone golfer on the roster with any Division I competitive rounds after the 'Cats graduated several players from the 2023-24 season. Sophomore Cormack Goecke returned from last season and saw his first tournament action for Weber State this past fall. Sophomore transfer Bobby Kincaid and freshmen Matthew Wilson and Luke Smith rounded out the starting five from each of the team's five tournaments in the fall.
The Wildcats posted a pair of top-three finishes to wrap up the fall season, including a team title at the 2024 Bill Cullum Invitational at the Saticoy Club in Somis, Calif.
Wilson joined the Wildcats in the fall from Nanaimo, British Columbia and led the team with a 72.43 stroke average. He earned a pair of Summit League Peak Golfer of the Week honors during the fall. He made 10 birdies and an eagle to finish sixth at the Utah Collegiate Shootout with a 36-hole total of 139 (-5) total and helped lead the Wildcats to the Bill Cullum Invitational title by placing third in the field with a 213 (-3) total.
