Wildcats Open Big Sky Championship in Fifth Place

LITCHFIELD PARK, Ariz. – The Weber State men's golf team opened up the 2026 Big Sky Championships on Monday at Wigwam Golf Club with a first round score of 299 and sits in fifth place through 18 holes of the 54-hole tournament.

Matthew Wilson led the Wildcats on day one, carding three birdies and an eagle en route to a 1-over par total of 73 and is in a tie for sixth place.

Bobby Kincaid joined Wilson in the top-20, shooting a 2-over par 74, powered by one birdie and two eagles, which placed him in a tie for 11th place.

Ty Anderson and Jesus Castaneda each shot 4-over par 76 on Monday and are in a tie for 21st place. Castaneda carded three birdies on the day, while Anderson made two birdies.

Markus Nanpei made two birdies on the day while posting a 5-over par 77 and is in a tie for 26th place.

Sacramento State built a good lead throughout the day, but came back to the field over the final two holes of the day and hold a one shot lead at 2-over par 290. Idaho finished the day in second place at 291, while Northern Colorado is third at 293 and Francis Marion is fourth at 294. Eastern Washington rounds out the six team field at 303, four shots behind Weber State.

Sac State's Gabriel Smith leads the individual medalist race after one day, shooting a 4-under par 68 for a two-shot lead.

The tournament's second round will begin at 7:30 am MDT on Tuesday, with the Wildcats playing in the second wave of tee times beginning at 8:20 am.
