Men’s Tennis comeback fall short

Las Vegas, Nevada — The comeback mounted by the Weber State Men's Tennis team fell short on Friday as they lost to UNLV 4-3.
"Very proud of the boys today. We barely had two healthy players but barely lost," head coach Brad Ferreira said, "Franco Quijano played his first college match and after losing the first and being down had an amazing comeback. Boys did not feel well but fought hard."
The Wildcats were swept in doubles losing the #1 match 6-1 and the #3 match 6-4. The team would have to look to singles to stage a comeback victory.
Connor Kruger, Jordan Coutinho and Franco Quijano provided the three team points for Weber State through their victories in singles play. Kruger took care of business on Court 2 with a 6-4, 7-6 (7-1) win over his opponent. Coutinho and Quijano both staged comebacks in their matches winning in three after losing the opening set. Coutinho would prevail 4-6, 6-1, 3-2, retired securing the second point for the Wildcats. Quijano came from behind in his first collegiate action to clinch Court 6 in favor of the Wildcats 3-6, 7-5, 6-1.
The 'Cats are right back in action tomorrow as they will take on the UC Riverside Highlanders on Saturday, January, 25th at 10:00 a.m. The final match of the UNLV Quad Tournament will pit the Wildcats against the New Mexico State Aggies on Sunday with the match beginning at 11:30 a.m.
