Wildcats drop game to Lumberjacks

OGDEN - The Weber State women's basketball team fell to the Northern Arizona Lumberjacks by a score of 92-78 this Saturday afternoon at the Dee Events Center.
First Half | The Wildcats put up a hard fight in the first quarter but the Lumberjacks began to pull away putting up 30 points with 14 points coming from 3-pointers.
The second quarter was tightly contested as the Wildcats put up a trio of 3-pointers to chip at the deficit and trail the Lumberjacks by 12. However, the Northern Arizona squad kept up a tough scoring offense and closed out the quarter 53-37.
In comparison, the Wildcats shot 51.6 percent from the field compared to the Lumberjacks 62.5 percent. Weber State went 5-12 from the arc while the Lumberjacks went 6-14.
Second Half | The second half proved to be more competitive as the Wildcats started to heat up. Only allowing Northern Arizona 15 points in the third quarter compared to the 'Cats 21. With just over a minute to go in the quarter Weber State worked at the deficit to trail by just ten at 58-68.
As the Wildcats looked to keep momentum going, Weber State started the final ten minutes of gameplay with a jumper by Taylor Smith and shortly followed by two good Kendra Parra free throws. Weber State was able to string together a couple points to break up some Northern Arizona runs but despite the Wildcats strong effort, the Lumberjacks were able to create separation and pull away for the 92-78 win.

- The Wildcats were led by Smith who recorded a career high 19 points. She has scored in double digits ten times this season.
- Parra finished the game with 18 points, her fifth in double digits this season.
- Rose Bubakar totaled 15 points, her sixth in double digits this season.
- Antoniette Emma-Nnopu recorded her second double-double of the season this afternoon with 12 points and 13 rebounds.
- Mata Paeua totaled 10 rebounds and a new career high.
- Weber State out scored Northern Arizona in the third quarter, totaling 21 points to the Lumberjacks 15.
- WSU finished the game shooting 45.3 percent from the field and 38.9 percent from the arc. NAU shot 33.3 percent from the arc.
- The Wildcats improved their game with only 11 turnovers compared to their previous 24 against opponent Northern Colorado.
