Wildcats sweep Vandals in straight sets

OGDEN - Weber State volleyball dominated from start to finish, sweeping Idaho in three straight sets on Saturday afternoon. Notching another Big Sky victory, the Wildcats extend their win streak to three and their conference record to 4-1.
Weber State opened the match with control, building an early 19-10 lead. The Wildcats tallied 17 kills while hitting .483 percent compared to the Vandals 12 kills. A kill from Rose Moore (Lehi, UT/Skyridge HS) then sealed the set 25-18 and gave Weber State an early 1-0 advantage in the match.
The second set was tightly contested, as Idaho rallied. However, the Wildcats stayed composed, using an eight-point run to take a 17-11 lead. The Vandals answered with a 5-0 run of their own to even the score at 18-18, but Weber State used three kills from Kaylie Ray to boost the 'Cats to a 25-15 set win.
The third set saw a commanding Weber State offense as the Wildcats had 15 kills on 25 attempts with just two errors and hitting .520 percent. Weber State pulled ahead mid-set and never looked back as they swept the match 3-0 after a 25-16 third-set victory.
Wildcat Stats
Ray led the Wildcats attack with 16 kills, hitting .429 percent. Stacia Barker (Evanston, WY) added seven kills and a new career high. On the block front, Brielle Rueckert (Orem, UT/Timpview HS) put up eight blocks, while Ashley Gneiting added four, and Barker had three. Morgan Pratt ran the offense with 30 assists, supported by Addison Eastwood, who contributed three.
