'Cats fall to Eagles

Weber State hosts Northern Arizona on Monday at the Dee Events Center.


OGDEN - Weber State suffered a 72-49 loss to Eastern Washington Saturday afternoon at the Dee Events Center. 

The Wildcats held a 24-21 lead late in the first half before the Eagles closed the half on a 6-0 run and led 27-24 at the break. 

EWU also started the second half on a 9-1 run to take an 11-point lead. The Wildcats cut the lead to seven points with 11:15 to play but never got closer as the Eagles went on a 16-2 run to take a 21-point lead. 

Weber State shot 27 percent from the field, its lowest percentage of the season. The Cats were also just 6 of 18 from 3-point range. EWU shot 37 percent and made eight 3-pointers. The Eagles also outrebounded the Cats 44-34 and forced 14 Wildcat turnovers. 

Blaise Threatt led the Wildcats in points, rebounds, and assists. He had 17 points, seven rebounds, and three assists, and also had two steals. 

Viljami Vartiainen added 13 points with three 3-pointers. 

Weber State continues its four-game homestand hosting Northern Arizona on Monday at 7 p.m. at the Dee Events Center. The 'Cats also host Idaho State on Saturday, February 8.
