Men’s Tennis topples Bobcats in Big Sky Opener

Ogden, UT — The Weber State Men's Tennis defeated the Montana State Bobcats 6-1 in the Big Sky Conference opener.
"We played great today," head coach Brad Ferreira said, "Doubles was very good. We were down a couple in singles and found a way to win. More the way we were supposed to play."
The Wildcats made quick work in doubles play taking the number two and three matches 6-4. The duo of Liam Day and Jordan Coutinho provided the clincher that gave the Wildcats a 1-0 lead heading into singles play. Connor Kruger and Ken Minh went unfinished on Court #1.
The 'Cats took five of the six matches in singles play including winning two matches in three sets. Theo Mottier provided the clincher from Court #6 winning his match in straight sets 6-4, 6-3. Ken Minh and Jordan Coutinho both took their matches in two sets winning 6-3, 6-1, and 6-4, 6-2 respectively. Tristan Sarap and Connor Kruger put the finishing touches on the Wildcat victory as they won their matches in three sets to close it out.
The 'Cats, at 3-4 (1-0), are right back at it on Sunday, February 23rd as they will play host to the Idaho State Bengals at the Ogden Athletic Club. The Bengals come into the matchup an even 5-5 fresh off a 4-3 win over the Montana State Bobcats. Both teams will look to move to 2-0 in conference play at noon at the Ogden Athletic Club.
