Ogden, UT — The Weber State Men's Tennis team defeated the Idaho State Bengals 4-3 to cap off a perfect 2-0 start to Big Sky Conference play.

In doubles, the Wildcats split the first two doubles matches. Connor Kruger/Ken Minh took their match 6-4, beating the No. 86 doubles team in the country, while Liam Day and Jordan Coutinho fell in theirs by the same score. All eyes shifted to William Zulch and Tristan Sarap as they tried to take doubles point home for the 'Cats. Down 5-4, the duo rallied and was able to break serve to make it 5-5. After winning their serve, Zulch and Sarap broke to win the match, and the doubles point, 7-5.

The 'Cats split singles with the Bengals with both teams taking three matches each. Tristan Sarap kept the momentum from doubles going winning 6-4, 6-4 in the number one position. Liam Day fought back to win in three sets after falling in the opening frame. He would go on to win 3-6, 7-5, 6-3. Ken Minh secured the win with a 7-6 (7-5), 6-2 win on Court #5. This win gave the Wildcats the fourth team point and the overall victory.

The Wildcats have begun conference play 2-0 after sweeping Montana State and Idaho State on the weekend. They will look to continue the streak as they play host to the Sacramento State Hornets on Friday, February 28th at 10:30 a.m. The Hornets come into Friday sitting at 3-4 with a 1-0 mark in conference after taking down Portland State 4-3 in early February.
