GAME NOTES: Regular season play comes to an end at home as Wildcats host Eagles and Vandals

Weber State women's basketball will matchup against the Eastern Washington Eagles on Thursday at the Dee Events Center. Tipoff is scheduled for 6 p.m. Following the game on Thursday, the Wildcats will play their final home game of the season against the Idaho Vandals. Weber State is coming off of a 71-56 win against the Portland State Vikings.

Weber State is under the direction of second year head coach Jenteal Jackson who was named the seventh head coach in WSU history. A Utah native and former in-state college player, she came to Weber State after spending the two seasons as head coach at Westminster College in Salt Lake City. Prior to becoming head coach, she spent nine seasons as an assistant coach at Westminster. She played college basketball at BYU and Westminster.

Four Wildcats are nationally ranked in the top 100:
Taylor Smith is ranked No. 54 in free throw percentage.
Kendra Parra is ranked No. 11 in free throw percentage and No. 97 in free throws.
Antoniette Emma-Nnopu is ranked No. 63 in rebounds, No. 44 in rebounds per game and No. 25 in offensive rebounds per game.
Lanae Billy is ranked No. 18 in three point percentage and No. 100 in three pointers per game.

Wildcats Kendra Parra, Kennedy Eskelson, Margarita Satini, Taylor Smith, and Amanda Edwards all returned to the Weber State team this season. Weber State picked up transfers Rose Bubakar from BYU, Antoniette Emma-Nnopu from UNC Greensboro, Lanae Billy from Fort Lewis College, Japrix Stubbs from USU Eastern, and Arizana Peaua from Westminster. The team also welcomed five newcomers, Maya Davis, Fui Niumeitolu, Mata Peaua, Dakota Nap, and Vanna Quintana.

This will be the 97th all-time meeting between the Wildcats and Eagles with the series beginning in 1978. The series is led by Weber State 49-47 with the Wildcats leading in Ogden 28-16. In the last game between the two this season, WSU took down the Eagles 62-48.

The Eagles are led by Head Coach Joddie Gleason who joined Eastern Washington in 2021. Peyton Howard leads the team in points averaging 14.6 per game. Howard also leads the team in 3-pointers, free throws, assists and steals.

This will be the 56th all-time meeting between the Wildcats and Vandals with the series beginning in 1980. Idaho leads the series 34-22 and leads in Ogden 14-11. The Vandals defeated the Wildcats 77-62 this past January in Moscow.

The Vandals are led by Head Coach Arthur Moreira who took over the program after serving the 2023-24 season as associate head coach. Olivia Nelson is averaging 14.4 points per game and Hope Hassmann is averaging 1.4 3-pointers per game while also leading in assists.
