Wildcats drop both on road trip

Phoenix, Ariz — The Weber State Men's Tennis team was defeated by the Grand Canyon Antelopes 4-0. The Wildcats went 0-2 on their Arizona road trip over the weekend.
"Not a great weekend for the boys but hopefully a good learning experience." Head Coach Brad Ferreira said.
The 'Cats and Lopes split the opening two matches of doubles play with Ken Minh and Connor Kruger taking the match in position #1 6-4. The Wildcats were unable to close it out, however, leading to the Antelopes taking a 1-0 lead heading into singles play.
The Wildcats were swept in singles play for the second consecutive match leading to the 4-0 victory for Grand Canyon. Ken Minh retired his match in the first set in position #3 and the match was finalized after the Wildcats fell on Courts #1 and #5. The teams were playing to clinch causing three singles matches to go unfinished on the day.
The Wednesday Night Lights await the Wildcats in Salt Lake City as they will take on the Utah Utes at the George S. Eccles Tennis Center at 6 p.m. The Utes come into Wednesday with an 11-5 mark on the season and 2-0 in Big 12 Conference play. The Utes boast an impressive 4-3 victory over #24 ranked Arizona State in early February. The Wildcats will look to bounce back after going a combined 11-0 on the weekend in losses to Northern Arizona and Grand Canyon.
