Aggies beat ‘Cats 4-1

Ogden, UT — On Thursday, the Utah State Aggies defeated the Weber State Wildcats at the Ogden Athletic Club 4-1. The 'Cats fall to 7-9 on the season with a 3-1 mark in conference play
In doubles, Liam Day and Theo Mottier got the Wildcats started winning their doubles match in the number three position 6-4. That set the stage for Connor Kruger and Ken Minh to clinch the doubles point on Court #1 in a tiebreaker 7-6 (7-4). The win pushed Minh and Kruger to 9-5 on the season and was their third consecutive doubles victory. The duo has won eight of their last nine doubles matches.
The Wildcats were swept in straight sets in singles play losing all four matches that went to completion. William Zulch and Theo Mottier went unfinished on Courts #5 and #6 respectively.
Conference play will resume for the Wildcats when they host Montana on Sunday, March 23rd at 11:00 a.m. The Grizzlies come into Sunday with a record of 11-4 and a 1-1 standing in Big Sky Conference play. It will be senior day for the 'Cats as they honor three seniors Tristan Sarap, Jordan Coutinho and Liam Day. Sarap and Coutinho both joined the program in 2022 while Day became a Wildcat this year.
