Wildcats Slip to Fifth on Day Two at Thunderbird Invitational

ST. GEORGE, Utah – The Weber State women's golf team shot a second round 298 on Saturday in the second round of the Pizza Hut Lady Thunderbird Invitational at Sunbrook Golf Club, dropping two spots to fifth place with one round remaining.
The team's 298 was a single shot better than its opening round 299 and the Wildcats have a 36-hole total of 597.
UC Riverside held its first round lead with a second round 289 and is at 582 heading into the final round with a three-shot lead. Second-place Stetson closed the gap with a 287 on the day and is at 585, while Northern Arizona is third at 588 and Montana State moved into fourth at 591.
Cala Korman and Jade Gruher each shot 2-over par 74's for the second-straight day, while Isabel Gutierrez shot a team-best 1-over par 73. The trio are joined in a tie for 16th place on the individual leaderboard with a total of 148.
Korman's round was highlighted by a trio of birdies and an eagle on the 237-yard, par 4 14th hole. Gutierrez carded five birdies on the day, while Gruher posted three birdies.
Emily Song is in a tie for 39th place at 10-over par 154 after a 78 on Saturday, and Sofia Fuenmayor shot 77 in her second round and is in 53rd place at 158.
Emma Lillywhite, playing as an individual this week for Weber State, shot a 2-over par 74 on the day and jumped into a tie for 33rd place at 8-over par 150.
Braylyn Bayer shot a 76 in round two and is in a tie for 36th with a total of 153 while playing as an individual.
Brynn Bischoff, also an individual for WSU, shot 78 and is in a tie for 63rd place at 162.
The tournament will conclude with the final round on Sunday.
