Wildcats top Utes on the road

Weber State swept Utah 2-0 this season. The last time the Wildcats swept the Utes was during the 2019 season.
SALT LAKE CITY - Weber State dominated the Utes taking a 6-0 win this Tuesday evening.Â
The Wildcats struck first, capitalizing on a Utah error as Kiaira Smith doubled to center field.
Utah threatened in the bottom of the first with a runner in scoring position, but a groundout to shortstop Taegan Smith ended the inning.
In the third, Jordan McMahon reached on a fielder's choice, advancing Abby Grundy to scoring position. Grundy later came home on a passed ball, scoring an unearned run.
Weber State loaded the bases with no outs after Eva Richardson drew a walk, prompting a pitching change for Utah.
The Wildcats added three more unearned runs in the sixth inning to extend their lead.
Utah was unable to generate any offense in the final inning, and the game ended with a 6-0 shutout in favor of Weber State.
The Wildcats used four pitchers in the game, with Brooke Merrill earning the win.
Taegan Smith went 1-for-2 at the plate with one run scored and two RBI, while Kiaira Smith collected two hits and one RBI on the night.
