Weber State finishes day with split

OGDEN - Weber State opened the series against Sacramento State with a 5-2 win, but fell 14-0 in game two.Â
Game One: Weber State 5, Sacramento State 2
Weber State softball opened the game with an exciting start, batting through their entire lineup in the bottom of the first to take an early 3-2 lead over Sacramento State, who had scored two runs in the top of the inning.
The score remained static until the bottom of the fourth inning when Mariyah Delgado singled, driving in Riley Whalen and extending the Wildcats' lead to 4-2.
Adding insurance in the fifth, Jordan McMahon hit an RBI double to left field, making the score 5-2.
Weber State's defense held the Hornets scoreless for the remainder of the game, securing a 5-2 victory for their second Big Sky win.
Cali McCraw earned the win (4-6), pitching a complete game and tallying five strikeouts. Offensively, Abby Grundy and Jordan Hart each recorded two hits, and Mariyah Delgado finished with two RBI.Â
Game Two: Sacramento State 14, Weber State 0
Sacramento State secured the second game with a dominant 14-0 win, driven by a first inning where they scored 12 runs. The Hornets extended their lead with additional runs in the second and third innings, while Weber State's offense remained absent, only managing five hits.
