Wildcats fall to Hornets in extra innings

OGDEN - Weber State closed out the weekend series (1-2) against Sacramento State dropping the final game with a 5-2 decision in eight innings this Saturday afternoon.Â
Sacramento State took an early 2-0 lead in the top of the first inning, scoring on an RBI single followed by an RBI double.
Weber State answered in the third inning when Jordan Hart hit an RBI single for their first run.
The Wildcats tied the game in the bottom of the seventh, pushing the game to extra innings, thanks to a clutch pinch-hit home run by Emma Bingham, making the score 2-2.
However, the Hornets secured the win in the eighth inning after Malepeai hit a three-run home run, advancing the final score to 5-2.
Kendall Freidinger, who pitched the complete eight innings and recorded four strikeouts, was credited with the loss. Offensively, Jordan McMahon led the team with two hits, while Hart and Bingham each contributed an RBI.
