‘Cats top Highlanders in Las Vegas

Las Vegas, NV — The Weber State men's tennis team picked up its first win of the year in a 5-2 result over UC Riverside on Day 2 of the UNLV Tournament.
"We had some very close matches and had some freshmen play very well. Very happy with our fight today." Head Coach Brad Ferriera said, "UC Riverside could have easily won the match who competed very well on all courts."
In doubles, Samuel Battiston and William Zulch clinched the doubles point with a 6-4 win on Court #2. Theo Mottier and Clement Lecoq set up the clincher by taking their match with a 6-3 result.
In singles, the Wildcats fell behind early, falling on Courts #5 and #6 in straight sets. Toit Malan began the comeback with his win in 3 sets on Court #3 winning 6-3, 4-6, 6-4. The Wildcats continued the momentum as Theo Mottier, Dawid Scholtz and William Zulch all took their matches in 3 sets.
The 'Cats close out the UNLV Tournament by taking on the host team tomorrow morning at 10:00 a.m. The Rebels come into the match at 3-1 and have swept both their opponents over the course of the tournament.
