Wildcats Look to Finish Road Swing Strong at Eastern Washington

Weber State heads to Cheney Sunday for its second Big Sky matchup of the weekend
CHENEY, Wash. — Weber State women's soccer continues Big Sky Conference play Sunday afternoon against Eastern Washington for the second match of their opening conference road swing.
The Wildcats enter Sunday's matchup with a 4-5-2 overall record and 0-0-1 mark in Big Sky play after battling back for a 1-1 draw at Idaho Thursday night.
Weber State trailed the Vandals 1-0 before Bonnie Buswell found the equalizer in the 86th minute, scoring off an assist from Lily Blum. Lauren Butorac also tied her career high with eight saves in the match, helping keep the Wildcats within striking distance before they found the goal.
The Wildcats will look to carry that late-match fight into Sunday's contest against an Eastern Washington team that enters conference play with a 6-2-1 record. The Eagles closed non-conference play with a 2-1 victory over Oregon State, recording a season-high 25 shots in the win.
Eastern Washington also received a strong performance from Maya Bossenbrook in the win over the Beavers. Bossenbrook scored the game-winning goal and finished with a team-high five shots, including two on goal. Goalkeeper Payton Hyde recorded five saves in the victory.
The Eagles opened Big Sky play Thursday at home against Idaho State before welcoming the Wildcats to Cheney on Sunday. Eastern Washington is looking to build on a non-conference season that included five consecutive victories to open the year.
Sunday's match marks the second of two consecutive road contests to begin conference play for Weber State. Following the matchup with Eastern Washington, the Wildcats will return home to host Utah Tech on Thursday, Oct. 8, at 7 p.m. at Wildcat Soccer Field.
Weber State and Eastern Washington will meet Sunday at 2 p.m. MT at EWU Soccer Field in Cheney. The match will be streamed on ESPN+ with live stats on Weberstatesports.com.
