Wildcats Fall to Northern Arizona in Three Sets

Weber State volleyball fell 3-0 to Northern Arizona Saturday afternoon at Swenson Gym, dropping the Wildcats to 9-5 overall and 2-2 in Big Sky Conference play.
The Wildcats battled throughout the opening set, trading points with the Lumberjacks early. Weber State pulled even at 14-14, but Northern Arizona used a late run to take the first set 25-21.
Northern Arizona carried its momentum into the second set, building an early advantage. Weber State continued to battle and cut the deficit to 17-15 before the Lumberjacks pulled away late to take the set 25-21 and move ahead 2-0.
The Wildcats came out fighting in the third set, overcoming an early 7-1 deficit to pull within one at 8-7. Weber State continued to battle, eventually cutting the Northern Arizona lead to 19-18, but the Lumberjacks closed out the set 25-21 to complete the sweep.
Rose Moore led Weber State with 12 kills, while Ziya Munyer added 10 kills and hit .471 on the afternoon. Lexie Carlson finished with seven kills, while Tennille Gonder recorded five kills and Sophia Sparrow added four.
Morgan Pratt finished with 11 assists and nine digs, while Marly Pratt led the Wildcats defensively with 19 digs. Weber State totaled six blocks.
The Wildcats finished the match with 40 kills and hit .192 as a team. Northern Arizona recorded 47 kills and hit .264.
Weber State will look to bounce back in its next Big Sky Conference matchup as they prepare for a three-game road trip to take on Utah Tech, Southern Utah, and Idaho State.Â
