Wildcats drop conference opener

Sacramento, CA — The Weber State Wildcats dropped their Big Sky Conference opener 5-2 to the Sacramento State Hornets on Saturday.
The Hornets clinched the doubles point by taking the match on Court #3 6-1, and won on Court #2 by default with the match knotted up at 5.
The momentum continued into singles play for the Hornets, taking 4 of the 6 singles matches for the 5-2 win. Theo Mottier took down his opponents on Court #2 7-6, 4-2, by retirement, and William Zulch won in the #6 position 7-5, 6-2 to get the Wildcats to two team points on the day.
The 'Cats will be back in action tomorrow as they will take on the Santa Clara Broncos in Santa Clara, California. The Broncos come into Sunday at 9-2 on the season and winners of their last five in a row. Most recently, Santa Clara took down #74-ranked UNLV 4-2 on Sunday, February 22nd.
