Wildcats Fall to Eastern Washington in Four Sets

Weber State volleyball dropped a 3-1 decision to Eastern Washington Thursday night at Reese Court in Cheney, Washington.
The Wildcats opened the match with a strong performance, taking the first set 25-19. Eastern Washington responded by winning the next three sets, 25-18, 25-19 and 25-22.
Weber State finished the match with 46 kills and hit .158 as a team. The Wildcats also recorded 12.5 total blocks and four service aces.
Rose Moore led Weber State offensively with 15 kills while adding 10 digs. Maggie Larsen finished with 11 kills, while Lexie Carlson also recorded 11 kills and added a block.
Ziya Munyer anchored the Wildcats at the net with a team-high seven blocks, including five solo blocks and two block assists. Marly Pratt led Weber State defensively with 23 digs.
The Wildcats held a 25-19 advantage in the opening set after hitting .387 with 14 kills. Eastern Washington responded in the second set, holding Weber State to eight kills and a -.074 hitting percentage.
Weber State battled throughout the final two sets, but Eastern Washington closed out the match with a 25-19 third-set victory and a 25-22 fourth-set win.
With the loss, Weber State falls to 7-4 overall and 0-1 in Big Sky Conference play. Eastern Washington improves to 7-6 overall and 1-0 in conference play. The Wildcats continue their conference road trip by heading to Idaho to face the Vandals on Saturday.Â
