FARMINGTON, Utah – The Big Sky Conference released it's preseason poll results on Thursday and the Weber State men's golf team was picked to finish in fourth place in the vote by the league's head coaches.

For the 2026-27 season the Big Sky will feature seven teams on the men's side with the addition of Southern Utah and Utah Tech. Coaches were not permitted to vote for their own teams in the poll.

The Idaho Vandals received five of the seven available first-place votes to end up the favorites for the upcoming season. The Vandals were the runner-up at the 2026 Big Sky Men's Golf Championship, shooting 14-under through the course of three rounds. Idaho finished behind only Sacramento State in that tournament, who has since departed the Big Sky Conference.

Northern Colorado was selected second on the men's side, while newcomer Utah Tech was tabbed third. Both received a first-place vote.

Senior Bobby Kincaid leads the Wildcats into the season as the top returner from the 2025-26 season, having produced a stroke average of 73.96 with one top-10 finish and two top-20 finishes among his nine tournament starts. His top-10 came at the Big Sky Championships, where he tied for ninth place with a 2-under par 214.

Jesus Castaneda (74.50 stroke average last year), Markus Nanpei (74.57), Luke Smith (74.67) and Ryan Takeshita (76.60) are all returners that started in at least three tournaments last year and will figure into the mix this year, while transfers Rishi Gupta and Elliot Auffret join the team as newcomers. Dean Browne is also a returner from last season for the Wildcats, rounding out the team's eight man roster.
