'Cats Tabbed Fourth In Preseason Big Sky Poll

FARMINGTON, Utah – The Weber State women's golf team was picked to finish in fourth place on Thursday as the Big Sky Conference released it's preseason poll for the upcoming 2026-27 season.
For the 2026-27 season the Big Sky will feature 11 teams on the women's side with the addition of Southern Utah and Utah Tech. The poll was voted on by the league's head coaches, who were not permitted to vote for their own teams.
the Northern Arizona Lumberjacks were voted to repeat as Big Sky Conference champions, after securing the title this past April. The Lumberjacks shot 5-under in the tournament to claim their second title in five seasons.
Montana State, who has featured the Big Sky individual champion in back-to-back seasons, received a pair of first-place votes and was selected second in the Big Sky. Northern Colorado, who was last season's runner-up, was voted third and received the last available first-place vote.
The Wildcats came in fourth with 75 points, nine back of Northern Colorado.
Weber State will be led by the senior duo of Jade Gruher and Cala Korman. Gruher led the team last year with a 73.19 stroke average. She posted six top-20 finishes in her eight outings, which included two top-fives and four top-10's. She recorded a season-best second place finish at the Utah Fall Intercollegiate with a 1-over par total of 145.
Korman, meanwhile, posted a stroke average of 73.96 across nine tournaments, with seven top-20 finishes, which included five top-10's and a pair of top-5's. Her top finish was fifth, which she accomplished at the Wolverine Invitational and at the Utah Fall Intercollegiate. She also went undefeated with a team-leading 3-0 record at the Mountain Classic Match Play event at the Classic Club in Palm Springs, Calif.
Junior Braylyn Bayer is also a top returner for the Wildcats, having posted a 75.78 stroke average last season. Her three top-20 finishes included an individual medalist title at the Sun Mountain Intercollegiate as she shot a 2-under par 214.
