WSU volleyball heads to Cal State Bakersfield for two matches

Weber State started the season 3-0 after winning the Wildcat Invitational.

After a perfect opening weekend, Weber State volleyball hits the road for the first time this season with a pair of matches at Cal State Bakersfield.

The Wildcats will face the Roadrunners on Friday and Saturday in Bakersfield, California. Both matches begin at 7 p.m. MT and will be streamed on ESPN+.


Weber State enters the weekend with a 3-0 record after winning all three matches at the season-opening Wildcat Invitational at Swenson Gym.


The Wildcats opened the season with a four-set victory over San Francisco on Friday, and beat San Jose State 3-0 and Belmont 3-2 on Saturday to win the title.


Freshman Lexie Carlson was named the Tournament MVP after leading the Wildcats with 48 kills during the three matches. She also hit .396, averaging 4.00 kills per set. 

Rose Moore totaled 39 kills and 14 blocks and was named to the All-Tournament team, along with Marly Pratt, who averaged 4.4 digs per set. 


Cal State Bakersfield enters the weekend after opening the season with two wins in three matches in Texas before falling in three sets at San Francisco on Tuesday.


The Roadrunners are under the direction of first-year head coach Kristen Wright and 


This weekend will mark the first meetings between Weber State and Cal State Bakersfield since 2021. The Wildcats have won both previous matches between the two teams.


After this weekend, the Wildcats will play two matches at the Nevada Tournament next weekend against Nevada and Kansas State. 


The next home games will be on Tuesday, September 15, against Utah State and Thursday, September 17, against BYU.
