Weber State rallies for four-set win over Roadrunners

Weber State and Cal State Bakersfield meet again Saturday night.
Weber State volleyball improved to 4-0 on the season after rallying for a 3-1 win over Cal State Bakersfield Friday night at the Icardo Center.
The two teams will play once again on Saturday night in Bakersfield.Â
The Wildcats won 21-25, 25-22, 25-21, 27-25 in their first road match of the season. Weber State hit .314 for the match with 51 kills and finished with 11 team blocks and 11 service aces.
Rose Moore led Weber State with 16 kills and added six digs and two blocks. Lexie Carlson finished with 13 kills, while Tennille Gonder had eight kills on 16 attacks with just one error for a .438 hitting percentage. Ziya Munyer added seven kills without an error on 11 attacks, hitting .636, and finished with a match-high nine blocks.
Marly Pratt had 14 digs and four service aces, while Addison Eastwood finished with 24 assists and eight digs. Morgan Pratt added 18 assists, and Katelynn Albano had three service aces and eight digs.
Cal State Bakersfield took the opening set 25-21 after building a 14-8 lead. Weber State pulled within three at 21-18, but could not complete the comeback. The Wildcats were held to seven kills and a .074 hitting percentage in the opening set.
Weber State trailed 15-9 in the second set before rallying. The Wildcats tied the set at 17-17 and again at 21-21 before scoring four of the final five points. Marly Pratt had a service ace during the closing stretch, and Moore finished the set with a kill for the 25-22 victory.
The Wildcats hit .440 in the third set and broke a 21-21 tie by scoring the final four points. Gonder had a kill, she and Munyer combined for a block, Munyer added another block and then finished the set with a kill for the 25-21 win.
Weber State led 20-16 in the fourth before the Roadrunners rallied to tie the set at 22-22. Cal State Bakersfield later had set point at 24-23, but Moore responded with a kill. Albano followed with an ace to give Weber State match point before the Roadrunners tied it again at 25-25. Gonder then put the Wildcats back in front with a kill, and Munyer and Moore combined for a block to finish the 27-25 victory.
