Bio
OUTLOOK: Cassidy is making the move to the right outside defender position, providing a big boost to the Wildcat back line and opening up a spot for Kelsie Ehlers to move to the outside midfielder position. The move will also give the Wildcats an added offensive presence in the defense as she is very accustomed to getting forward in the attack... Has posted career totals of nine points on two goals and five assists.
As a Junior in 2006: Cassidy played, and started, in all 19 matches for the Wildcats... Scored a career-low two points on a pair of assists, despite posting career-high’s with 21 shots and nine shots on-goal... Assisted on the game-tying goal in WSU’s 1-1 tie with Northern Arizona on Oct. 15... Matched her single match career-high of three shots twice last year and her career-high of two shots on-goal three times last year... Was an All-Big Sky Conference Honorable Mention.
As a Sophomore in 2005: Played in 20 of 21 games, missing only the Big Sky regular season finale against Sacramento State on Oct. 29 after suffering an injury against Northern Arizona two days earlier... Came back to play through the injury for WSU’s four postseason games... Scored three points on a goal and an assist... Her lone goal came against Drake to help the Wildcats claim the Clash at Cownie tournament title in Des Moines, Iowa in late September... Her assist came against Eastern Washington in the Big Sky Conference tournament semi-finals as WSU beat the Eagles 2-0... Was named to the Big Sky All-Conference Second Team... Earned Big Sky All-Academic Team honors for the second-straight year.
As a Freshman in 2004: Cassidy was the lone first-year player among a talented freshman class to play in all 20 games for the Wildcats... Started 18 of her 20 games played... Tied for sixth on the team in scoring with four points on a single goal and a pair of assists... Scored three of her four points in a 5-2 win over Utah Valley State on Oct. 9. She scored her first career points on a goal in the 45th minute to put the Wildcats up 2-1 and then assisted on Rochelle Hoover’s game-winning goal in the 58th minute... Her other assist came on Lindsay McFarland’s game-winner as the ?Cats upset Portland State 2-0 in the Big Sky Conference tournament semifinals in Portland... Was named to the Big Sky Conference All-Academic team.
During her Prep career: Cassidy is a 2004 graduate of Layton High School in Layton, Utah, where she lettered four times in soccer, three times in track, and once in basketball... Was coached in soccer at Layton by former Wildcat standout Tara Ferrin... Played on the Lady Lightning club team that won the state championship in 2001... Played in the Utah College Showcase soccer game in 2003 as one of the top high school seniors in the state... Was a Second Team All-Region selection and an Honorable Mention All-State pick in 2003... Was named the Layton HS Female Athlete of the Year in 2004... Was a 2003 High School Heisman Award nominee... Posted 26 points on five goals and 16 assists at Layton High School in 2003.
